I knew you were going to make the SLR thread, that's why I didn't do it. I'm not excited for their cd... like... at all.

*bans you* *runs away and giggles* I was waiting for you to ban me for real. I said to Allie, "I wonder how long it'll be before she bans me for my anti-Straylight Run mindset."

I think the intense love for Straylight from other members will sufficiently combat her anti-love.

UselessDivision.com has some live videos of Straylight Run. So........ I watched a few of them... and now the rabid SR fans will be on me like shit on velcro... Here comes the opinion: oh jesus... so not impressed. Michelle should just shut her mouth and sit there looking pretty. I don't know what the deal is... she wasn't that bad in Ghost Man on Third.... backing vocals aren't that hard, are they? I'm not a singer, so I don't know. And when she was singing lead... it sounded to me like... she maybe wanted to be Cibo Matto. When I heard her, that's what I was reminded of... holy crap. John... I don't think he's front man material. I don't like the off-key singing and the cracking voice. I could attribute that to the fact that these were live videos I watched, but from what I have heard of his singing (old skool TBS, SR demos) this is how he normally sings. Even when he was singing a slow song with no screaming/loud powerful singing, his voice found a way to crack. That may work for everyone else, but it doesn't for me. One thing I do like: How a lot of the songs are piano driven. That's not something you'll see in a punk/emo band. Dare to be different. Good job. The only decent song (in my opinion) was A Slow Descent. In SR's defense, I only listened to 3. A Slow Decent, Toolsheds and Hot Tubs, and Holding On. I changed my mind about buying the cd. I'm so not doing it. I'll have Buffy send me what she thinks are the stand out tracks so I can hear their studio stuff. I can't support a band who makes music that I don't enjoy. Maybe when I hear the studio stuff, it'll change...... but until then.... no. just no. In conclusion...... nah, I'm not going to make any closing remarks. They'd just come off as mean and I don't want to be mean. Just honest about my opinion of the songs. Sorry SR fans. Not everyone'll love your band. But that's okay. The majority of you hate Tsunami Bomb... so I guess we each know how the other feels.

i remember. but i made her listen a few more times and she fell in love. I remember when she downloaded it... we expected it to be good... so we huddled around her speakers and listened.... only to make the most disgusted faces we could muster at 3 in the morning. Ah, those were the days.... And now maybe she likes it so you won't promote to her all the time. I'm just fucking with you. It's all good. SR isn't that bad. I just don't really care for them.

Maybe when I hear the studio stuff, it'll change...... but until then.... no. just no. . okay, first, i thought you liked that shitty band cibo matto? o.O michelle is good, btw. cibo matto sucks. bad. worst blow job ever type of sucks. at least michelle can sing. sweetly, i might add. not powerfully. and *blink* did we listen and watch the same slow descent? cos wow. he sounds great and his voice cracks like, twice. just because his voice isn't all pro-tooled to death doesn't mean it isn't bad. just because john is trapped behind a piano doesn't mean he isn't preseenting himself. the crowd doens't have to be jumping and screaming to be enjoying themselves doesn't mean anything about what he is presenting. the fact that everyone is quiet says words to me. and what does his 'front man material' -ness have to do with him being a good singer or not? and what exactly is 'good' front man material? should he be running around? he talks to the crowd, he interacts, he is passionate about every word he sings. that to me makes him good. and seriously, i'm listening to the songs you listened to. and he is amazing. he sounds incredible. oh, and way to listen to more than one john song. this is coming from the most anti-emo bitch around. i was expecting to HATE it. like, more than i hated brand new. but i was seriously blown away by existenialism on prom night. like blown away. played it again just to make sure i wasn't crazy and hearing something good when it was supposed to be bad.

I don't like Cibo Matto. I never claimed to like them They were on BtVS once, doesn't mean they're a band that I like. And if you like Michelle, that's all well and good. I don't think her singing is that good. It's what I'd call weak. But if you like it, yeah. Being a front-man means being a leader. He needs to give up his second-in-command-attitude and air and lead his band. That's what a front man does. I think that's part of being a lead singer. It's called lead for more than the obvious reasons. Being passionate is part of it, but not all of it. I don't think he's a good singer. To me, being a good singer means hitting the right notes. From what I have heard, John doesn't do that half the time. I mean, he plays guitar and piano... he should know what being on key sounds like. So he has no excuse. Like I said, emotion in his voice shouldn't throw him that much... And he doesn't run around on stage, as you said... so what's his excuse? Oh, and for the record... I said "A Slow Descent" is probably one of SLR's only decent songs. I don't believe I said anything really against that song... Blah. Here's the bottom line: I don't like him or his band. You're not going to change my mind no matter how much you insult me or my taste in music. We should just agree to disagree and be done with it. Oh, and thanks for changing all my profile stuff around. It was pretty cute to log on and see that done.

I have a friend who liked Cibo Matto. I think she still does. I'm not sure, though... I don't remember Buffy not liking SLR; then again, I haven't known her all that long. I can't even remember why I added her to my LJ in the first place, to be honest. Lastly, I am totally going to see Straylight Run, with my mom, on October 17th. The end.

Back when she was still my roomie, she didn't like them at all. I think it was back during the time she didn't like TBS, either. Yeah, I'm pretty sure that's when it was.
