ok so i am really pissed off. Tell all your friends is my favorite cd of all time and the origional tbs was my favorite band of all time. Where you want to be was a decent album nothing special a few good songs but the band lost what made them amazing, John Nolan. He wrote the songs on the first album and some lyrics and had an awesome backup voice. Now tbs is coming out with a new album. Its going to be trash. They co signed with warner bros so this album is going to be one that is written for the little girls of america who watch trl every day, a place that tbs will be. I swear that 2 months after this cd comes out half the peopl on the board will be calling them sellouts. They are the next fallout boy and it sucks. But at least we can savoir tell all your friends.
now go ahead and say your shit to me

i think that tbs has a lot more integrity than to write an album for "the little girls of america who watch trl every day" just because they signed with a major label doesn't mean they are going to 'sell out'
tell all your friends was good, yes, but it wasn't all written by John (who despite what you think, isn't the god of all song writing). Where you want to be was a new start. A good one at that. New line up, new dynamics, and yes, some different song writing, but it was still in the same vain as tell all your friends.
the new stuff sounds good. i hope it makes me like them more (i'm not a big fan, i like straylight run more, never cared much for tbs, even with john).
oh, and Fallout Boy, NEVER sounded good. they didn't even have a 'tell all your friends' it has all sucked.

It just so happens that they music they play is more mainstream that it ever was. I hope they get lots of radio/tv play. It's fun seeing bands you love all over the place. I'm sure that WB will give them more publicity than Victory could ever do.
I can't wait to see them live. *goes to buys tickets*

If the new album sucks, it will suck because TBS sucks. Not because they've become mainstream. Getting signed to a bigger, better label that can promote them more doesn't mean that the quality of the music will go down.
What the fuck is with this stupid idea that scene kids have? Getting signed to a major label means your favorite band is SUCCEEDING which means they can MAKE MORE MUSIC for you to listen to.
Jesus, people.
Oh, and John Nolan isn't that great. All these militant TBS fans act like he's the fucking second coming... he's so not. Singing on key is a good thing, guys. John rarely does that. on the TBS record. He does more now that he's with Straylight... which, by the way... is a better band than TBS. I hate to admit it, but for clarity's sake, I will.

oh, and Fallout Boy, NEVER sounded good. they didn't even have a 'tell all your friends' it has all sucked. i dont recall saying that fallout boy was good i was saying that their rise from not so popular to popular is the future of taking back sunday. yeah john nolan is not a god not the best song writer or singer but he added a cetain fell that can't be replaced. ps. when taking back sunday become a band listened to by scene kids please tell me because scene kids dont like music as popular like this they like their obscure random bands.

Scene kids listen to stuff they think is obscure, or used to be obscure, and then bitch when it becomes mainstream. Kind of like you, actually.

i dont recall saying that fallout boy was good i was saying that their rise from not so popular to popular is the future of taking back sunday. yeah john nolan is not a god not the best song writer or singer but he added a cetain fell that can't be replaced. Fans of Taking Back Sunday can only hope that the band they love will make it in the industry. To a certain extent popularity is a measure of 'making it'. Gold and Platinum albums come with that popularity. Which leads to the band being able to focus on writing and playing and not having to get a part time job when they aren't touring. These come when more people listen to your music and buy your music. Not to mention if they really honestly 'just want to be heard and change lives' than this, too, comes with popularity. The more people that you can access, the more lives you will change. The more good you will do. I hope this is their 'break-out' album. And I have to say that the song on their myspace page is awesome. John didn't bring anything to the band that Fred can't do better. i <3 Fred. The song writing sounds even better. It really makes me want to hear more.

I am excited for the new TBS album. I will admit though, i have heard 5 songs off of it and wasn't too impressed. I really like MakeDamnSure though.
As far as TBS becoming "mainstream". I feel they already have been for quite some time (this taken from someone who worked at Hot Topic for 2 years). And though i am really happy for them... it is kind of a downfall for me. I cannot stand any of the bands that they have played with for the last year or 2. I also am not a fan of the teenage "scene" girls and boys that flood the shows. So i haven't bothered to see them live in quite some time, unfortunately.
I think it is really neat to watch TBS grow. Especially for those who have any of their demos from before Adam was the original singer and just a bassist(i believe he was the bassist... i could be wrong). If you listen to the songs they had before Tell All Your Friends and even the original versions of select songs off Tell All Your Friends, you will notice quite a difference. And though i like their demos and the LPs equally... you kind of just have to accept and be proud of the maturity and change in their music. I think it is for the best and i think the new album will be different, yes, but something good and refreshing at the same time.

I don't think you're a true fan. I only say this because if you were, you wouldn't care if Taking Back Sunday had signed with a major label, you would have still supported them. That's all I'm going to say about that.

for fans of old school TBS.....the reason it rocks is because Mark was more involved in the writing.... not that newer TBS ain't good either....
